There was a time when breaking the 300 km/h barrier was the ultimate achievement for a performance car. Today, it’s a feat that most exotic cars can accomplish. However, things get trickier when aiming for 350 km/h, and speeds over 400 km/h enter the realm of hypercar or even legendary performance. In short, Chevrolet has achieved something exceptional with the latest version of its Corvette.

Since its reveal, several tests have been conducted to determine the ultimate top speed of the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1. Initially, the American sports car reached a speed of 344 km/h, which is very fast. However, a new series of tests has allowed the team behind this American missile to realize its true potential.

Racing at Full Speed

Earlier this month, Chevrolet’s team went to Germany to test the Corvette ZR1’s capabilities. Believe it or not, the car reached a speed of 375.7 km/h, making it officially the fastest car in its class on the market.

To achieve this level of performance, Chevrolet conducted its tests on the Papenburg test track in Germany.

Full Power

One reason the Chevrolet Corvette ZR1’s top speed is so high is its carefully designed aerodynamics. Nonetheless, the American sports car could never have achieved this feat without its engine. It features a 5.5-liter V8 engine with two turbochargers, delivering a power output of 1,064 horsepower and 828 lb-ft of torque—numbers that certainly play in hypercar territory.

The 2025 Chevrolet Corvette promises to be exceptionally powerful when it hits the market. Its price hasn’t been announced yet, but it’s likely to be highly affordable considering its performance level, though it won’t be within everyone’s budget. Currently, the most expensive Corvette model (the Z06) starts at $159,319. The Corvette ZR1 could cost double that and still be considered a real bargain. Remarkably, this won’t even be the ultimate version of the model for this generation, as Chevrolet is set to reveal a new version called Zora next year.
