2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV: a great vintage is born
July 19 2022,
It's always hard to know in advance what a vehicle is going to offer us, but sometimes you get a really good idea because of the quality of what is presented to you. With the Chevrolet Blazer EV 2024, which made its official debut on July 18, Chevrolet has given us the first details of a model with huge potential.
So it is with great pleasure that we share these first pieces of information with the essential for the moment.
The Ultium platform
You first need to know that the new Blazer will take advantage of the General Motors (GM) Ultium platform. This platform, already used for the Cadillac Lyriq, offers great flexibility in all areas.
As a result, we've learned that there will be front-wheel drive Blazers, rear-wheel drive Blazers and all-wheel drive Blazers on the menu. This is unheard of. Also, because the structure allows the batteries to be positioned close to the ground, the Blazer's center of gravity is lowered, which will improve handling and sporty behavior.
Capabilities
Not everything was shared about the capabilities, but we did get some interesting information. For example, a rear-wheel drive RS version will offer us around 515 kilometers of range, which is excellent. Also, a sportier variant called SS will focus on performance with 564 horsepower and 648 lb-ft of torque. The 0-100 km/h time will be around 4 seconds.
So it's going to go in all directions; there will be a Blazer EV for everyone. There will also be a Police version for those jurisdictions that are ready to go electric.
As for charging, Chevrolet says it will have a maximum capacity of 190 kW at a Level 3 charging station, and the rear-wheel drive RS version will take 10 minutes to recover 125 km. At home, the Level 2 charging station will offer a capacity of 11 kW.
The versions
There will be four models on the menu: 1LT, 2LT, RS and SS. The offer will start at $54,548 and end at $83,548. The standard equipment will be generous, but everything remains to be defined. We know that connectivity will be complete and that the multimedia system will take shape on a massive 17.7-inch screen. The Super Cruise semi-autonomous driving system will also be available as an option.
In short, we can't wait to see the 2024 Blazer EV come home, because what we've just been shown is very promising. We'll have a chance to come back to it before the model makes its debut on our roads.
