2024 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 Bison Introduced

The off-road vehicle market is on the rise, and to meet this high demand, General Motors (GM) has revealed its latest addition - the 2024 Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 Bison. 

This is the most rugged, most capable and most impressive model in the third-generation Chevrolet Colorado pickup which is arriving on the market now. Built in partnership with American Expedition Vehicles (AEV), the new ZR2 Bison is being touted as the most off-road capable midsize truck ever produced.

Reinforced for Rough Terrains

The ZR2 Bison's off-road capabilities are enhanced by various notable features. It comes equipped with sturdy AEV bumpers and boron steel skid plates and rocker protectors that improve underbody protection, offering an additional layer of resilience when navigating harsh terrains.

The vehicle's ground clearance has been increased from 10.7 inches to 12.2 inches, providing it a significant advantage in off-road situations. This is also the largest ground clearance in the segment. Larger approach, departure, and breakover angles add to this capability with a best-in-class 38.2 degrees, 26 degrees, and 26.2 degrees. These features, combined with 35-inch Mud Terrain tires and AEV's 17-inch beadlock-capable wheels, ensure the Bison can handle the toughest off-road challenges with ease.

Interior Enhancements and Performance

Inside the cabin, AEV badges are embroidered on the front headrests, reminding occupants of the Bison's rugged pedigree. All-weather floor liners are standard, providing extra durability and easy clean-up after off-road adventures.

Under the hood, the 2024 Colorado ZR2 Bison carries over the powerful engine from its predecessor, generating 310 horsepower and 430 pound-feet of torque. This powerful engine provides robust performance in all conditions. Despite its more rugged features and capability, the new Colorado ZR2 Bison still offers a payload of 1,050 pounds, and max towing capacity is rated at an impressive 5,500 pounds.

The new Bison utilizes the Multimatic DSSV dampers, which incorporate Jounce Control technology for superior handling in extreme off-road situations. These advanced dampers enhance the vehicle's performance, making it a formidable presence on any off-road trail. Moreover, the new ZR2 Bison features a range of AEV-specific enhancements designed protect it on the most difficult trails including AEV rear bumper and AEV heavy-duty winch-capable front bumper.
