A Look at the Impressive New Chevrolet Silverado ZR2
July 25 2022,
The new Chevrolet Silverado ZR2 is the most capable Silverado ever in terms of off-road driving, but it is also one of the most luxurious due to its numerous comfort features.
A solid suspension
The new Chevrolet Silverado ZR2 is equipped with a unique suspension system that is stronger and more focused on off-road driving than the suspension used on other Silverado models. This is due to the presence of the Multimatic DSSV spool-valve dampers and special springs that give the ZR2 more ground clearance than other models. To increase its capabilities even further, the Silverado ZR2 uses a different bumper that allows an improved approach angle and it comes standard with 33-inch all-terrain tires. In order to protect its underbody and mechanical elements, the Silverado ZR2 is equipped with skid plates that are not found in other models.
A capable powertrain
The new Chevrolet Silverado ZR2 is only available with the most powerful engine in the Silverado lineup: The 6.2L V8 engine. Combined with the standard 10-speed automatic transmission, this powertrain delivers 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque to all four wheels through a two-speed transfer case and ZR2-exclusive e-locker front and rear differentials. Combined with the Terrain Mode system, this powertrain makes for effortless driving on any road and easier off-roading.
More luxury than expected
Off-road focused trucks used to be spartan and crude, but the new Chevrolet Silverado ZR2 is actually one of the most luxurious Silverado pickups to date. This is because it includes many comfort and convenience features such as the 13,4-inch infotainment screen and 12,3-inch digital instrument cluster, the Bose premium sound system, the heated front, and rear seats, the heated steering wheel, the ventilated front seats, the dual-zone automatic climate control system, the adaptive cruise control, and the auto-dimming rear-view mirrors. In terms of safety, the Silverado ZR2 comes standard with front and rear pedestrian detection, lane keeping assist, and automatic high beams.
