A look at the new 2022 GMC Yukon
May 18 2022,
The GMC Yukon has been extensively reworked for 2022 and it has become more luxurious, modern and capable than ever
A new style
The 2022 GMC Yukon and Yukon XL have received a large number of esthetic changes for 2022 which give them a more modern, sophisticated and rugged look. The changes are mostly concentrated on the front end of the Yukon, where a larger grille takes place between the new LED headlamps that feature a distinctive design that makes the Yukon easily recognisable from a distance. The taillamps have also been changed this year and the wheel designs have received tweaks to differentiate themselves from last year’s model.
A modernised interior
The 2022 GMC Yukon benefits from a new interior that is more modern and luxurious than any other previous Yukon model. A larger infotainment screen houses a Google-developed operating system that supports natural speech voice commands to control most functions of the vehicle, including the climate control system. In front of the driver, a 12-inch digital instrument cluster is standard in order to provide more information in an easy-to-read manner. The new dashboard also replaces the previous column mounted gear shifter by a series of piano keys installed to the left of the center screen.
Powertrains that have proven their worth
The 2022 GMC Yukon is powered by a choice of three powertrains that have all proven their durability in GMC models for a few years now. The standard engine in the Yukon is the 5.3L V8 engine, which is good for 355 horsepower. The other available V8 is the 6.2L, which develops 420 horsepower and the third engine is the 3.0L Duramax inline-six-cylinder diesel engine that produces 277 horsepower. These last two engines are the only ones to be offered in the more luxurious Yukon Denali and all three options are paired with the 10-speed automatic transmission.
