Five Things to Know about the New 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV
January 05 2024,
If you've been following electric vehicle news over the last few months, you've probably heard about the new 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV, which has just started shipping in the country. This modern, dynamic SUV marks an important turning point in Chevrolet's history, as it is the brand's first model to adopt the Ultium platform, which will form the basis of GM and Chevrolet's electrified future. Here are five of the most important details to know about it:
Cutting-edge technology
The 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV is built on GM's Ultium platform, similar to that used by the Cadillac LYRIQ and GMC Hummer EV. The Chevrolet Blazer EV will therefore be the third model to make use of this new technology, which includes not only the platform itself, but also the battery and motors. Ultium technology will be used on all future General Motors electric models, such as the Chevrolet Equinox EV and Silverado EV. Since the automaker is betting big on the Ultium platform, it has pulled out all the stops during its development, and that's why the Blazer EV offers a potential range of up to 521 kilometres for the RS RWD version, and a 190 kW fast-charging capability to shorten charging times when you need to stop on a long drive.
Variety of models
The 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV will be available in four versions: 1LT, 2LT, RS and SS. For the moment, only the 2LT and RS models are available, but the other versions will soon be added to the catalog. Depending on the variant chosen, the Chevrolet Blazer EV offers a variety of mechanical configurations: the 2LT benefits from all-wheel drive as standard, while the RS offers it as an option and uses rear-wheel drive in its base version. We already know that the SS performance model will come standard with all-wheel drive, and it's possible that a front-wheel-drive version available in the U.S. will also join the Canadian offering shortly.
Impressive performance
The performance-oriented 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV SS can produce up to 557 horsepower and 648 lb-ft of torque thanks to its Wide open Watts (WOW) function. This should enable the vehicle to accelerate from 0 to 96 km/h (60 mph) in less than 4 seconds - no mean feat for a vehicle of this size and class.
Modern interior
The interior of the 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV is one of the most technologically advanced ever offered by Chevrolet, featuring a large 17.7-inch infotainment screen, accompanied by an 11-inch digital instrument panel. What's more, the Chevrolet Blazer EV will feature General Motors' Super Cruise semi-autonomous driving technology, which allows the driver to cover over 640,000 kilometres of North American highways without touching the steering wheel, as long as they remain attentive to the road.
Extended price range
The 2024 Chevrolet Blazer EV is aimed at a wide fold of buyers, since its price range will be vast, from the entry-level 1LT to the high-performance SS, for which prices are not yet known. Nevertheless, we do know that the 2LT is offered with an MSRP of $63,330 and the RS costs $73,330, which means that both versions are eligible to the federal iZEV rebate which cuts $5,000 from the final price.
