July 18 2022,
The 2022 J.D. Power Initial Quality Study results are out, and General Motors has a very strong showing, positioning two brands in the top three and multiple category winners as well. The J.D. Power Initial Quality Study aims to determine the overall level of satisfaction of new 2022 vehicle owners in the first 90 days of ownership.
The study which is been conducted for the last 36 years had 80,000 respondents this year who filled out a total of 223 questions related to initial quality of their vehicle. The results were then calculated and ranked based on how many problems different vehicles from a given brand had over 100 vehicles. With just 132 problems per 100 vehicles, new 2022 Buick models finish first overall among all automakers in North America.
With just 147 problems per 100 vehicles, Chevrolet finished third overall. Even more impressive was how Chevrolet and Buick vehicles performed in their respective segments. The Buick Encore GX, the Chevrolet Tahoe, Chevrolet Equinox, Chevrolet Silverado, and the Chevy Silverado HD all won their respective segments for the best initial quality. Moreover, the Chevrolet Corvette was named the number one vehicle overall in the industry for initial quality.
GMC trucks and SUVs also had above average results in the J.D. Power Initial Quality Study. The average number of problems per 100 vehicles reached 180 this year, meaning that 2022 vehicles had on average more problems than 2021 models which had only 162. Nevertheless, GMC vehicles proved that they have what it takes to exceed the expectations of their owners. Give us a call today to learn more.
