Here are the most fuel-efficient General Motors SUVs
July 12 2022,
Fuel economy is definitely one of the things that buyers are most interested in these days. With fuel prices so high, how can you do otherwise?
If you're looking to buy a model from the General Motors (GM) family, you can choose from a range of models with excellent fuel economy ratings. In fact, here are five that may be of great interest to you because of their excellent fuel efficiency.
Chevrolet Trax and Buick Encore
We'll start by grouping the performance of two models together because they're identical. We're talking about the Chevrolet Trax and Buick Encore twins.
In their case, the best results are obtained with front-wheel drive versions, 9.7 liters per 100 kilometers in the city, 7.3 liters on the highway, for a combined 8.6 liters every 100 kilometers.
With all-wheel drive, add 0.5 liters to these averages, except on the highway where the rating is 7.7 liters.
Very interesting in all respects.
Staying with the Buick Encore model, but this time with the more spacious GX version, we realize that we're not losing much in the way of fuel economy. With the version equipped with the 1.2-litre turbo 3-cylinder engine, the averages are 8.0, 7.6 and 7.8 L/100 km, in the same order and respecting the benchmark. With the 1.3-liter turbo 3-cylinder engine, 8.2, 7.4 and 7.9 L/100 km are reported.
With all-wheel drive, the Buick Encore GX gets 9.0 L/100 km in the city, 8.2 L/100 km on the highway and 8.6 L/100 km on average.
Chevrolet Trailblazer
With the Buick Encore GX's cousin, the Chevrolet Trailblazer, we find the same ratings with the 1.2-litre engine, but we do better with the 1.3-litre mill. The result is an average of 8.0 liters in the city, 7.2 liters on the highway and 7.6 liters combined. And with the all-wheel drive system, it's also better than its cousin with 8.9 liters, 7.8 liters and 8.4 liters.
GMC Terrain
Finally, if you want a more spacious model, like an SUV in the compact class, the GMC Terrain could very well satisfy you. In front-wheel drive configuration, its 1.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine claims 9.2 L/100 km in the city, 7.8 L/100 km on the highway and 8.6 L/100 km combined. With the all-wheel drive system, the figures rise to 9.6, 8.3 and 9.0 liters, all in the same order and for the same references.
As you can see, you're a winner everywhere with these models. They'll give you everything you want, but also give you a break at the pump.
