GMC's Latest Leap Forward in the SUV segment
With the introduction of the 2024 GMC Acadia, GMC asserts its commitment to offering premium and capable models. This latest offering exhibits substantial improvements in size, features, and technology. Let's unpack the numerous changes GMC has brought to the Acadia.
Expansion in Size for Added Comfort and Versatility
GMC, in search of better comfort and more generous interior space, has revamped the Acadia to be 10.6 inches longer and 3.2 inches taller than its predecessor. This sizable increase has allowed the Acadia to present a new seating configuration that can accommodate seven to eight passengers, depending on the chosen trim.
Elevated Storage
With space being a priority for many SUV buyers, the new Acadia does not disappoint. The redesigned model boasts almost 80% more cargo space behind its third row and an impressive 36% more behind the second row compared to the previous generation. In addition to making the Acadia significantly more practical and useable than before, this also helps make everyone on board more comfortable, especially on long road trips where pit stops are few and far between.
A long list of new technologies
The 2024 GMC Acadia also benefits from a host of new features that decidedly bring it into the modern age, such as the Google-based infotainment system which uses a standard portrait-oriented 15-inch touch screen or the 11-inch digital instrument cluster. In addition, the 2024 GMC Acadia can be ordered with the advanced SuperCruise driver assistance system that allows hands-free driving on more than 400,000 miles of American and Canadian highways. Since Acadia drivers might want to put their vehicle’s increased towing capability to good use, this technology can now be used when towing a trailer and it features automated lane-change functions.
Powerful Performance Delivered
Under the hood, the Acadia houses a robust 2.5L turbocharged engine, an upgrade that allows the SUV to deliver 328 horsepower and 326 lb-ft of torque. This powerful engine also offers enhanced towing capabilities, maxing out at a trailering rating of 5,000 pounds when properly equipped. The only transmission option is a smooth 8-speed automatic unit that pairs with a part-time all-wheel drive system. In order to make for improved off-road capabilities, the rugged Acadia AT4 trim level includes a unique Active Torque AWD system.
A Glimpse Ahead
Set to be manufactured at GM’s Lansing Delta Township Assembly in Michigan, the 2024 GMC Acadia is slated to make its debut in the market in early 2024. Once it arrives, this new model will pave the way for other substantially reworked GMC models to follow.
