Why buy a 2023 Chevrolet Silverado instead of a 2023 Ford F-150?
December 14 2022,
The question has been on everyone's lips since the late 1940s. Should you choose a Ford pickup or a Chevrolet model? Everyone has an opinion on this, but when you really look at the question, observing realities and not opinions, you realize that you make a better choice with the Chevrolet representative.
So here's why it's better to choose a 2023 Chevrolet Silverado over a 2023 Ford F-150.
Reliability
No vehicle is 100% reliable. However, when making a choice, you hope to get your hands on the model that will prove to be the most reliable. In this case, let's leave it to J.D. Power to settle the debate, as they have made their opinion known after exhaustive studies.
Their conclusion? The Chevrolet Silverado offers better reliability than the Ford F-150. If you like to stay out of trouble, you know what you have to do.
Fuel economy
For those who put on a lot of miles, fuel economy is of paramount importance. You'd think that with a hybrid version, the F-150 would win hands down, but that's not the case. In fact, because Chevrolet still offers a diesel-powered Silverado, you don't have to look any further to find the fuel economy champion.
On the highway, the difference is 2.2 L/100 km. I'm sure you'll agree that driving 500 to 1,000 kilometres a week starts to add up to a lot of liters.
And if you prefer gas-only engines, Chevrolet's 2.7-litre turbocharged 4-cylinder is an impressive beast. This engine offers more torque than the 2.7-liter turbocharged 6-cylinder in entry-level versions of the F-150.
Identity
The question of identity is always present with a full-size pickup. While both companies offer distinctive variants, frankly, Chevrolet's lineup has stood out in recent years with some truly unique variants. Just think of the new ZR2 model that debuts this year.
Identity also comes from the capacity of a good old V8 engine. That's what defines a pickup. Ford still offers the 5.0-liter V8, an excellent powertrain. However, it doesn't offer the panache of the Silverado's 6.2-litre V8. This engine is recognized as being the best in the service of this type of vehicle.
Basically, it's the little things that make the Chevrolet Silverado a more interesting and complete option than the Ford F-150. Take the time to compare and you'll see.
